About the course

The training objectives of the Swedish Resuscitation Council (SRC) are for everyone in society to be able to perform CPR, use an Automated external defibrillator (AED), address airway obstruction, and provide first aid in life-threatening illness and accidents. The training materials for first aid have been developed by the SRC in collaboration with the Swedish Lifesaving Society and the Civil Defense Federation. The course lasts 3.5 to 4.5 hours.

About the Training
The overarching goal is to save lives, prevent further injury, enable recovery, and reduce pain and suffering.

This first aid course lasts 3.5 to 4.5 hours and is based on international guidelines from the European Resuscitation Council published in 2021 (erc.edu). It is founded on a systematic review of scientific evidence and best practices,  and aligns with emergency medical treatment guidelines in Sweden. This course will equip you with readiness to act, increased motivation, and practical skills.

Target Audience
Anyone who wants to learn First Aid and CPR for adults.

Learning Objectives
After completing the course, you should be able to:

  • Identify common life-threatening injuries and illnesses.
  • Call 112 and provide a clear description of the incident and the number of people in need of assistance.
  • Perform CPR and use an AED.
  • Provide first aid based on the L-ABCDE approach until emergency services arrive.

Prerequisites

  • Reviewed course materials.
  • Completed the online web course in the First Aid Education Portal available at hlr.nu.

Duration
The training duration is 3.5 to 4.5 hours
